It´s been almost two weeks since I went from Mom, to Hero.I want to believe that I am still keeping my rank.
It was a Thursday, when my daughters had their first swimming class and we were allowed to see them from the stands, the class was short and they were still in the last supervised lap when Maya my youngest daughter, slipped off the pool stand and started sinking.... I did not have a lot of time to think. My eyes were fixed on her body going deeper and deeper. It was probably two seconds and for me it felt more like 20 minutes.
I did not wait, I dove in and when I realized, I was inside the pool (It's amazing how heavy denim jeans feel when soaked) I grabbed Maya and got out of the water, and there I was water dripping from head to toe, all eyes on me and Maya well, needless to say: saved
It's incredible how fast things can happen, and more amazing how fast that motherly instinct can come out. Daniel my son, keep staring at me with his eyes as open as his mouth. I was not sure if he was embarrassed or shocked, when he whispered something that warmed my heart so fast that all that soakedness didn't matter any more.
"You are my Hero mom" Well, that was worth a thousand more jumps in a thousand more pools.
